Ventura High from California had athletes place in the top 60 of the Bill Buettner girls championship race at the 44th ASICS Clovis Invitational to finish second overall as a team with 113 points at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. Sadie Engelhardt, a junior, won the 5-kilometer race in 16:39.3 for the second-fastest prep girls performance in Woodward Park history. Aelo Curtis took 13th in 17:56.5, Newbury Park transfer Tiffany Sax was 28th in 18:19.6 in her Ventura debut, Melanie True grabbed 39th in 18:33.8, Violet Hurguy achieved 58th in 19:16.0, with Bailey Burman capturing 75th in 19:42.5 and Sophia Denzler earning 94th in 20:09.0 for the Cougars.
