Sydney Sundgren, Grace Hutchison, Elle Lomeli, Sierra Cornett, Stefania Sesock, Kaylee Elliott and Caroline Mendyk helped Buchanan High of California to a 57-65 victory over Newbury Park in the Bill Buettner girls championship race at the 42nd ASICS Clovis Cross Country Invitational at Woodward Park in Fresno. Buchanan had a team time 89:57.8 to become only the second girls program along with Great Oak to produce a pair of performances under 90 minutes at Woodward Park. The Bears had five scorers in the top 35 to secure their first championship at the ASICS Clovis Invitational since 2012.
